Call for Senior Developer – Web design and development, Multimedia Information Systems & Social Media Applications
The Multimedia, Knowledge and Web Technologies (MKWT) research group of Athens Information Technology, Greece seeks to hire a full-time senior developer with advanced web design and development skills, as well as demonstrable experience in the development of multimedia information systems and social media applications for the needs of ongoing research and development projects.
The MKWT group conducts research and development aiming at devising next generation intelligent, self-aware/self-adaptable rich media interactive Web applications and services deployed and validated in a number of application areas, such as:
■ e-learning, edutainment, serious/educational games
■ Entertainment through gaming (multi-player, online, mobile)
■ DTV/iTV and Digital Cinema, VoD, Web TV, IPTV, Video on the Web
■ Multimedia Archives and Digital libraries, Rich Media Web portals, Multimedia Information Systems and Search Engines, Recommender Systems
■ Social networking, Social Media (Blogs, YouTube, Flickr, Delicious, Facebook, etc.), Web 2.0/3.0
■ Virtual/Mixed reality worlds in digital entertainment, art, culture, education, collaboration spaces
■ etc.
A set of mandatory tasks to be carried out include:
■ Web design and development, preferably in PHP (object oriented PHP), AJAX, Javascript and Jquery, of:
- Mobily-Friendly Multimedia Information System and Social Media Applications
- Recommendation and Personalization Engine
- Content Adaptation Engine
■ Integration at system level, testing and validation of the above tools under real-life experimentation cases
■ Collaboration with external partners, task progress monitoring, deliverables authoring and meetings participation
■ Research publications output, dissemination to related events and conferences
Requirements for the Senior Developer Position:
■ Advanced web design and development skills and proven experience in Web applications programming and development of Multimedia Information Systems. A portfolio with working examples/projects/prototypes in these directions is necessary.
■ Familiarity with recommender systems, personalization, multimedia description (metadata) and mobile device-oriented content adaptation methods and tools
In addition to the above minimal set of requirements, the following qualifications/ expertise will be favourably considered:
■ Desirable specialization (MSc) in Multimedia Information Systems.
■ Academic and/or industrial experience in recommendation, personalization and content adaptation, proven by developed R&D and/or industrial tools and systems.
■ Team spirit and performance under strict schedules and deadlines
This position will give the successful candidate the opportunity to work in a well established and active research environment with state-of-the-art facilities. The working language at AIT is English therefore fluency in English is a requirement.
